That’s a wrap on Night Dreamer’s latest exhibition that opened in London from 30th October to 3rd November. In preparation for an upcoming album release and celebrating with a not-to-be-missed after party, Night Dreamer got in touch to launch with FoundPop.

Get to know Night Dreamer

Working with Artone Studio, Night Dreamer is renowned for its dedication to capturing unfiltered, single-take performances using painstakingly restored equipment. Inspired by Wayne Shorter’s 1964 album, the team pushes the boundaries of musical craftsmanship, blending modern creativity with timeless recording techniques.

Ahead of the event, we spoke with Cindy Sun, Night Dreamer’s Social Lead to learn more about the featured artist and hopes for visitors.

What has the Night Dreamer team looked forward to most with the album release?

We have been incredibly excited for the release of this album, especially because it offers both fans and new listeners a fresh perspective on Marcelo’s iconic work. For longtime fans, it’s an opportunity to experience these culture-defining tracks in a completely new light. Through the intimate energy of the direct-to-disc process, what you hear on the record is exactly how it was in the studio.

For those unfamiliar with Marcelo’s music, it’s the perfect gateway to explore not only this album, but also his rich back catalog. In addition to the music, we’re thrilled about the photography and visual direction that accompanies the album. It’s a real fly on the wall perspective.

What could attendees expect from the exhibition? How did it align with Night Dreamer’s vision and values?

Night Dreamer’s goal was to create a unique, immersive space that blended the launch of the direct-to-disc album with a deep dive into the cultural and musical influences that shaped it.

The event not only showcased the record, but also provided an interactive space where visitors could explore the history, sounds, and stories that influenced the album’s creation. It was important to us that the exhibition became a vehicle for Marcelo and SambaDrive’s music, making it accessible to a new and diverse audience in London.

The exhibition culminated in a live showcase, bringing the experience full circle and giving attendees a night of music and culture.

How do you view the role of exhibitions in fostering a deeper connection between artists and the community?

Exhibitions take individuals out of listening to an album in their own space, and places them in an immersive environment that subsequently allows fans to obtain a deeper understanding of the processes and intrinsic meanings behind the music.

In a way, we are breaking the “4th wall” — the exhibition becomes a direct interaction between the artist and the audience.

Why did you choose the location for this exhibition? How does the space contribute to the experience?

D’Stassi in Hoxton has established itself in featuring emerging artists at their gallery outside of the traditional, and often elitist, environment.

Although Marcelo D2 is an incredibly established artist in Brazil — We saw this album release as an opportunity to expose a secondary audience to his music.

The gallery began as a blank canvas of sorts, and allowed the team to fully transform the space into an intersection of Jazz, Hip Hop, and Brazilian culture.

Looking ahead, how do you see Night Dreamer evolving as both a recording brand and a creative platform for future projects?

As we continue to expand our catalog, our focus remains on embracing a diverse range of artists and musical styles, all united by the same direct-to-disc recording process. Equally important to us is redefining the traditional relationship between artists and labels. We’re committed to creating a more transparent and collaborative environment where artists have greater control over their creative output.
